Kalimantan forms ¾ part of Borneo and is part of Indonesia. It’s a true adventure destination: the island is almost completely covered in dense rainforest vegetation, so there is no inland road system and it still enjoys a cultural heritage little changed over the centuries.
In this trip we take you cross this one of the most rugged island in the world, from East to West, using roads, rivers, feet we traverse the jungle. The rough and uncharted terrain and has made this Borneo traverse trip is one of the toughest and the most challenging trekking programs in the world. The unpredictable weather and river conditions made this trip an exploratory adventures.
To enjoy this trip, you need to be prepared to accept whatever the jungles and rivers serve up! A good fitness level, a strong sense of determination and a flexible attitude are essential. The rewards are the romance of the journey itself, the mix of river travel including long stretches of rapids, the experience of jungle trekking and contact with the local Dayak peoples

“You must have a good level of fitness and adventurous spirit and a strong sense of determination, as conditions and accommodations are challenging. We will use busses, public house boat, chartered motorized canoes to access the jungle for a rugged days of trekking. We sleep in the simple houses of the villager with basic facilities and on the house boats. The trekking is tough and often wet, the only way to appreciate the primeveral jungle of Kalimantan and the most traditional Dayak Tribes settlements as well as the wildlife.”
DAY 01: JAKARTA ARRIVAL
Upon arrival in Jakarta Soekarno Hatta Internatinal airport, we will transfer you to Hotel at down town in Jakarta. Free Program all meals on your personal leisure.
DAY 02 : JAKARTA – PONTIANAK – PUTUSSIBAU
Early morning we will transfer you on to Jakarta airport for catch first flight to Pontianak. Depart to Pontianak by BURAQ AIRLINES 325. Upon your arrival at Supadio Airport of Pontianak, we will have connecting flight to Putussibau by KALSTAR. Free Program all meals on your personal leisure. (B)
DAY 03: PUTUSSIBAU – KAPUAS RIVER
After breakfast at Hotel in Putussibau towards to the headwaters of the Kapuas by long boat. Needed all necessary supplies estimate day, as far upstream as possible and passing several river side settlements. Safe bet is overnight riverside and encampment or local house floor (B,L,D).
DAY 04: KAPUAS RIVER- BUNGAN RIVER – TANJUNG LOKANG

DAY 06: SUNGAI BULET – SUNGAI BUNGAN

DAY 07: SUNGAI BUNGAN – SUNGAI BANGUN LEA
Trekking here is never boring, there is always new development, estimating distance, location, progress the road to follow, the meals to be prepared, the night site to decide on (B,L,D).
DAY 08: SUNGAI BANGUN LEA – PIANG LO’ONG
The central divide the watershed between the Kapuas and Mahakam is in fact a fairly low altitude, sadlle in Muller Range of the Kalimantan Highland. DAY 10: MULLER RANGE – MUARA CUTING

DAY 11: MUARA CUTING – SAITE or MAHAKAM RIVER
Early morning hunting the animals in the jungle by Dayak hinters then return for breakfast, typically 5 hours walking to reach Saite. Overnight at camp. (B,L,D).
DAY 12: MUARA SAI’TE – TIONG OHANG
Another 3 hours of walk to reach Mahakam river side, upon arrival the river side, pick up by the long boat (locally called Cas) then take us to Tiong Ohang village. Overnight at local house. (B,L,D)
DAY 13: TIONG OHANG – LONG BANGUN
Breakfast at the long house, (not in the long boat) then another 8 – 10 hours sail by boat to Long Bangun. Overnight at local long house. (B,L,D).
DAY 14: LONG BANGUN – SAIL ON THE HOUSE BOAT
After breakfast, leave the village of Long Bangun by house boat. Lunch and dinner provided in the house boat. During the sailing trip, you can explore and learn the local way of live ‘ river side civilization’ which is much different from waht we normally have in the dry land area. (B,L,D)
DAY 15: FROM THE HOUSE BOAT – SAMARINDA
Arrival at the house boat harbor in the afternoon. Check in to hotel middle class in Samarinda. The rest of the day is free for your own activites. (B,L)
DAY 16 : SAMARINDA – BALIKPAPAN
Breakfast at hotel then in the appropriate time, drive to Balikpapan for your next destination. (B)
